I'm so excited, went to B & N this morning and bought a new moleskin just for my fairies and clowns! I just finished decorating the cover and I'm so happy with how it turned out!
Hi Janine, this is just a regular moleskin sketch book, I sanded the cover lightly and applied 2 coats of gesso, then I glued on the little elf guy which was drawn on sketch paper, painted him and added the background stuff. I do all my journal covers like this!
Other than a little talent passed on to me by my grandma, Pearl, I am a do it yourself kinda gal and like to figure things out on my own most of the time. When that doesn't work I take an online workshop. We live on 3.5 forested acres with a breathtaking view of Mt.Hood.
“To live content with small means... To seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion... To be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich... To study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly... To listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart... To bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never... In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common; this is to be my symphony.”

OMG! Verlene how did you do this? Is it done on paper first then mounted onto book cover or did you paint right onto the book cover? It is wonderful!
