Broken People
I have been involved with a group of artists for the past 10 months while we learned to draw and paint pretty girls. I have made many friends during this time, besides finding out I really can draw. But now it seems my snug little group of friends are at odds with one another and I feel pulled in two directions, as I have friends in both groups. What is a girl to do? I know one thing. We are all broken people, not one among us is perfect. My son happens to be bi-polar. That is his medical diagnosis. But that is not who he is. He is a person, a son, a brother, a friend, a computer software designer and a genius. He loves to play chess and scrabble and basketball and take hikes in the mountains of eastern Oregon. To label him, bi-polar, and put him in a category with all other bi-polars would not be fair to who he is as a person, nor would it be an accurate description of him, as his attributes are not exactly like anyone else's, neither are mine or yours. When my son is on top of the world, he makes plans and then doesn't fulfill them because he crashed. Does this make him a liar? No. If he promises something and then gets too flighty to accomplish it, is he a criminal? No. Someone once said, "he who is without sin cast the first stone". I'm not holding any rocks in my backpack. How about you? What is a girl to do? I've made my choice. And it does not involve burning someone at the stake because they made a few mistakes. Life is so short, why spend time rehearsing negativity, for one thing it's not good for your health. There is so much about life to love. Be a positive influence wherever you are, spread a little sunshine and let people know they are loved. - verlene

Your words are so full of insight and wisdom..None of us are perfect, we are all learning, struggling and growing on this journey called life. And I totally agree..didn't our mother's teach us not to throw rocks!!LOL have a great day and thanks for sharing such a wonderful post! Sorry you felt in the middle btw..lets all spread some compassion, forgiveness, and oh yea ART!!!~~~xo~~~
Have a great vacation!
It's especially sad to see dissention in the art community, a community that should be about creativity and sharing and support. If only more people shared your beautiful compassionate heart. I hope your vacation feeds your soul and you come back full of lovely ideas for your paintings.
XOXO,
Alberta
Verlene,
I know that feeling about being pulled in two directions. You are right. Life is too short to be at odds with others and I, like you choose not to be a part of the negative.
Have a wonderful trip and I hope you find yourself refreshed!
Beautifully said Verlene! life is too short to allow that much negativity into your life.
